I am recently doing my FYP project but i faced prob on preparing the 1M of oleic acid, stearic acid and lauric acid solution. Originally, the lauric acid and stearic acid is come in solid form and oleic acid come in liquid form but they are not able to dissolve in water. So what type of solvent can i use in order to produce 1M of acid solution?
Indeed these acids in their acid form do not dissolve in water. Their sodium salts are rather soluble, but if you can dissolve these up to 1M I am not sure. 1M for these higher molar mass substances is quite a lot. The acids themselves, in case you cannot use the sodium salts, should be soluble in methanol or ethanol.
