I have a solution of Hg(NO3)2. HNO3 2M (stock solution - 1000 ppm Hg) and NaOH (1 M).

I would like to know how to prepare a solution of Hg(NO3)2 at pH 6.5.

I have tried to add NaOH (little by little) into the stock solution so that pH slowly increased from 0 to 6.5.

However, I found this way is not correct. When pH reached around 5.5, some precipitation appeared, and the color of the stock solution became darker.

I think the precipitation is Hg(OH)2.

If you have any experience with this issue, please help me.

Thank you very much!
