Hi all, I'm trying to prepare a carbon slurry for making electrodes in the EDLCs. However, I can't seem to get a smooth and homogeneous slurry. Generally, the slurry is prepared by dissolving PVdF in NMP by heating at 50 Celsius while stirring followed by addition of activated carbon, MWCNT, and conductive carbon black. The problem is, even after stirring for one day there are still visible particles, and when coated and dried on a current collector, the electrode surface is rather coarse.
I have tried grinding the carbon materials with a mortal an pestle, altering the stirring speed, and even went on to sonicating the carbon mixture. Am I missing a few important points while making the slurry?
