I am planning to simulate nanosecond pulsed laser heating/ ablation on metal. Comsol or Lumerical, which would be the best for this simulation? Also, I would appreciate if anyone can suggest me a good tutorial on that. Thanks.
Touhid Bin Anwar , I recently did something similar. We have a paper coming out in NPJ flexible electronics about it Preprint Large-Area Photonic Lift-off Process for Flexible Thin-Film ...
By defining an analytic equation you can create a time dependent beam source. Once thing that can be important is calibrating the beam power. When you irradiate your sample it's important to know the absorbance of the materials. We used UV-VIS with an integrating sphere to measure the absorbance. With absorbance known you can then apply your source as pulse(t)*Abs to get the correct value of energy absorbed.
Thanks for sharing the paper, it is interesting. However, I was looking for simulation in a software like comsol/ lumerical where I can use built-in structures and photothermal heat sources. Do you know if that's doable? Thanks.
