I am trying to do failure analysis of randomly distributed CNT reinforced composite.Please suggest me how to incorporate the interface properties between polymer matrix and carbon nano tube in abaqus /comsol/ansys ?
There is one module called "interaction", if you are using abaqus. There you can input the interaction properties you want. I think for your case while assigning constraints "embedded region" would be the right choice to go on with.
But, still if its possible, be specific about your problem, so that I can guide you in detail.
I have modeled in CNT reinforced composite in MATLAB and using COMSOL MATLAB live link imported it to COMSOL.I am attaching the document for your consideration which i had followed .
You can define cohesive surface or cohesive elements to model the fiber matrix bond in ABAQUS. To define cohesive surfaces, you do not need to define any parts, you can simply select the surfaces in contact.
If you are still interested on generating randomly distributed cylindrical particles please have a look at this journal paper. I described the algorithm step by step in this paper which enables manipulating the orientation of the particles as well. Basically, with this method you can create a randomly dispersed and oriented cylindrical particles.
