In COMSOL Application Library, there is case about waveguide adapter. But there are some questions:

1) In boundary mode analysis, it just set to find only 1 mode and the S-parameter is successed. But when I changed mode numbers, the S-parameter is still calculated to the first mode rather than higher order modes. So what is the uesful of the mode numbers of Boundary Mode Analysis in S-parameter calculation.

2) In other cases, it could solve the different modes match in S-parameter by using multi-ports. But sometimes I dont know which mode is the right cavity mode, so there is still a boundary mode analysis to find the right mode ( maybe is not the fundamental model), then choose it as the E-field distrubution of excition port to calculated the S-parameter, does it work in COMSOL?

3) In fact, the excition port is not usually a numerical port or a rectangle port, and the E-profiles of waveguide is complex. Could I ues the user definitied port to calculate the S-parameter. In my case, the 2D mode analysis at different frequency of cross-sectional waveguide is finished, but I cant use the Boundary Mode Analysis in 3D to find the same mode. So I wanna use the E-fields results of 2D mode analysis as a input to the excition port in 3D and calculated the S-parameters. However the E-fields results of 2D mode analysis is discretization rather than a function with (x,y). Could I build the two analysis in same model like multi-physics simulation.
