Joshua is correct. There is little you can do - other than delete them. They tend to be reasonably irregular - unlike multiple daily spams from other sources. It's the same with other related academic spams - such as 'obscure' conference invitations. Unfortunately, like anything in the public domain (which is the whole reason for publishing) it is 'fair game' for anyone that can access that material and add to their database - or have others do it for them.

Education has turned into the process of commodification - A process in which education is sold and brought up as a commodity in the labour-market situation. This is probably the reason that it is difficult to maintain privacy in publications. Joshua and Whitehead are correct in saying that mark them spam and delete them in the first instance.

As usual, your discussion topics are both vital & interesting! I too have hard time dealing with this kind of problematic issue! my approach of dealing with these e-mails is quite simple! I'm deleting them frequently.

It is hard to control emails coming from different accounts. These journals are increasing in numbers and they tried their best in order to make money.

They do not care whether they bother you or not, what is important for them is money only.

This is a massive time-suck, I find! My universities spam filter seems to do an okay job at sorting through them, so much of the work is done for us, but there are at least 2-3 each day that slip through. I'm just glad they're easy to pick! I don't know what we do?!

I usually ignore them. I do not get that much and usually I use my gmail account which automatically filters them into my junk mail.
