I want to conduct a study to look at access to education in Rural areas but unable to finalise the research Methodology for my Research and also to see which framework would work for this research? I am facing this issue and I need of Help.
To study access to education in rural areas while also considering communication barriers for children with hearing and speech disabilities, you can combine a mixed-methods approach:
Quantitative part: Use surveys or structured questionnaires to measure school enrollment, attendance, distance to schools, availability of trained teachers, and educational resources. Collect data separately for children with and without disabilities to compare access levels. Stratify your sample by region, school type, and disability status to ensure representation.
Qualitative part: Conduct interviews or focus groups with children (where possible), parents, teachers, and local officials. Explore barriers in communication, teaching strategies, and inclusion practices. Observation of classrooms or learning environments can also provide valuable insights.
Framework suggestions: UNESCO’s Inclusive Education Framework is widely used to study barriers in access and quality of education. Social-Ecological Model can help examine how individual, family, community, and policy-level factors interact to affect access. Capability Approach (Sen/ Nussbaum) is also useful for focusing on what children are actually able to do and be in education.
Practical tips: Ensure ethical approval for working with children with disabilities. Use assistive communication tools (sign language interpreters, visual aids) when collecting data. Combine statistical analysis for quantitative data and thematic analysis for qualitative data to get a comprehensive view.
