I am doing research on probiotics and prebiotics, now looking some specific strains like Bifidobactirum, Lactobacillus and in this regarding need some information regarding isolation and molecular characterization of these species
(I) you should plaque a quantity of these fermented products on plates containing MRS medium, and after the growth of isolated colonies, (II) perform the strain identification by means of MALDI-TOF-BioTyper with subsequent sequencing of the same to better identify strains at the species level.
