I would like to induce tumor necrosis in vivo in experimental mice model. Can anyone tell me how can I induce specifically tumor necrosis (not apoptosis) in mice. I don't have a laser facility to heat up or burn the tumor. Any suggestions?
Christopher thanks for your ideas. Infecting with virus is a good idea. But problem is I need necrosis only form tumor tissue so do you have any suggestion for that.
Anil thanks for your idea as well. Metformin is a good option but problem is it is not specific for tumor cells. So in control also it will show similar phenomenon. But in my case I am trying to evaluate the necrotic property of cancer, therefore, if I get necrosis every where, then it might become a problem. But I am not sure. So do you have some comments on that.
Christopher, thanks for your comment.I dont think viral infection often cause necrosis. As you know infection with high risk HPV has been identified as a causative factor for cervical cancer. LSIL and HSIL are precancerous lesions of cervix ,thought to occur due to HPV infection. No necrosis can be seen in the tissues of LSIL or HSIL. Even in insitu carcinoma no necrosis is observed where as in invasive carcinoma you can find necrosis.Similarly necrosis is not found in many other viral infections. Treatment with cytotoxic chemicals, bacterial toxins, ischemia, radiation etc can be tried.
