How to inactivate the excess DCC from DCC/DMAP coupling agents?

I am making a conjugation of R1-COOH and R2-OH by estertification using DCC/DMAP. Unfortunately, the R2 also contains COOH group. So after activation of R1-COOH, how can I quench the unreacted DCC? Some papers recommend using 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME) to deactive EDC, but in my case using DCC. So is it possible to use 2-ME to deactivate DCC?

I used to place the RBF into freezer for about 30min, solid formed and filtrated off the solid. Excess of DCC can be quenched by H20 in DCM (all must be cold at all time). You may want to take a try.
