The idea is for people who are overwhelmed by the huge amount of products when they come into a store/ supermarket and do not know where to find the products they want. Usually, they will have to find a staff member to ask for directions. Therefore, I'm finding a solution which can help them view their locations on their own phones and search for the place of/ direction to their expected products. The data collected from this activity (such as what products they purchase most, how often they go shopping etc) can then be used by machine learning to figure out the shopping behaviour of customers so as to improve their shopping experience and provide retailers with better business strategy.

Great idea, particularly for large stores with multiple product groups and shelves. This need is currently fulfilled by the floor staff who guide people around. This is also for people who are entering a new store. If I go to my regular store, I know where to find my stuff, unless they change the locations. This usually does not happen as the signage also will have to change. I dont see the need for ML as the store already has all the data from the billing info. What additional / new information or analytics you are planning to generate? Would be interesting to know your thoughts.
Sridhar Chakravarthi Mulakaluri I'm studying on RFID-WSN (RFID-Wireless sensors network) hybrid system and IoT to accomplish the first task, which identify specific products and their location within the store. This information will be transmitted to the management server by wireless connection such as Wifi. The most difficult part is to create a virtual map of the store in the database then upload the location of the products to it. Therefore, when customers come into the store, they can connect to the wireless network there by wifi or bluetooth connection on their phones and go to some web applications to view the real time location in the store, search for the products they want and the direction will be shown by the app. I already contact some third party companies but they have never done anything like this at the end user side but only at the management side. That's why I'm still stucked at that point. About the ML, I can see that many third party companies have been using the data collected from indoor localization system to make some useful applications such as analysing customers pathway to see which area of the store they visit most so they can adjust store layout or create seasonal promotions etc
