Just save you CAD model in the .sat , .igs, , .stp and so on. you cand check the available formats in Abaqus-Import_part...As far as I know Abaqus just recognize, shell and solids... but if you have the plug-in which connect Abaqus to solidworks or Catia, maybe you will have wire geometry.... also you can convert the wire geometry in the original cad software to shell and after importing, you can convert it to rigid body and something like that...
the solution depends on this fact that how much your model has complicated geometry. I suggest to import wires and surfaces seperately and assemble them in abaqus itself. But there would not be problem in assembley procedure. based on my knowledge Abaqus will understand the exact locations of your seperatley imported parts. But you will face merging and interaction problem which eliminating these problems should be time consuming.
