What is the difference between Generalized Finite Element Method and Extended Finite Element Method.

Thanks Hauke Gravenkamp for your replay,

I read the reference you given.

From that paper, I understood that, fundamentally XFEM and GFEM are differentiated by the way of enrichment(Local and Global). But currently they are used like synonyms.
