Predatory Journals are paid journals. They publish data with out referring to reviewers with in short time. Many times these journals have no impact factors.

The website https://beallslist.net/ is an initiative that is still active, after the closure of the 'original' Beall's list it is continued by one or more person(s) who prefer to remain anonymous. In the changelog (https://beallslist.net/changelog/ ) you can see that the latest update was March 7th 2021.

The list developed by Jeffrey Beall, stopped in 2017. However, this list or better these lists:

For potential predatory publishers https://beallslist.net/(the original Beall’s list) and the update version https://beallslist.net/#update

For potential predatory stand-alone journals https://beallslist.net/standalone-journals/ (the original Beall’s list) and the update version https://beallslist.net/standalone-journals/#update

are made available again by new (anonymous) people using the same criteria as before (see enclosed file).

Indeed, there are reasons and numerous discussions (both here on RG and in the literature) not to focus on the Beall's list too much but personally I used it for a first indication (and I must admit: the list is right in a pretty high percentage 80-90%).

Any journal out of both Scopus and Thomson indexing are likely to be predator journal.

Indeed the question "why journals are indexed in Scopus while mentioned in the Beall’s list" or the other way around "how can journals listed in the Beall’s list get indexed in Scopus" is a somewhat mysterious matter and is addressed in numerous discussions here on RG, see for example:

In relation to your example, the problem with https://predatoryjournals.com/journals/ is that it is not updated unlike the link I gave in my reply of September 14th https://beallslist.net/standalone-journals/ Furthermore indeed the link https://predatoryjournals.com/journals/ mentions Journal of Mathematics and Computer Science (JMCS) as potential predatory but they mean “The Journal of Mathematics and Computer Science (TJMCS)” (this refers to a defunct website http://www.tjmcs.com/index.php while this is correctly indicated in the link https://beallslist.net/standalone-journals/).

The journal “Journal of Mathematics and Computer Science (JMCS)” with website https://www.isr-publications.com/jmcs is:

-Indeed Scopus indexed https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21100898958

-Indexed in Clarivate’s ESCI

And is not listed in the Beall’s list and does not seem to be predatory.
