Hello, my model of friction welding process is failing due to excessive distortion, although I've specified ALE adaptive mesh for the concerned domain. I need help in giving adaptive meshing appropriately to the workpiece and the tool and also need help in the "remeshing rules". Whenever I try to give remeshing rules for my model, an error message "no error indicator variables for this step" pops up. Please, can anyone help me with this problem ? I'm attaching file of my meshed assembly with the tool and workpiece. I've used tetrahedra elements and a fine mesh in the concerned domain whereas coarse mesh in other regions.
The tool rotates at quite a high speed whereas the workpiece is stationary. How can I avoid excessive distortion in my model ?

I strongly doubt that ALE alone will really help you much because it does not change th emesh topology. You could try an Eulerian mesh instead.

Thanks for giving your suggestion. What you said is true because I have not been able to solve the excessive distortion problem in my mesh even with different ALE adaptive mesh settings. However, I'm unsure about using Eulerian mesh because there's no flow of material in my model. The material is plasticized and remains in the workpiece itself. I'm attaching my .inp file, and would request you to go through it once and give your feedback/suggestion and/or make any corrections in the model.
