Can you export that data in point features??

The Timesat program does not allow for exporting the output file. The file it creates from the seas2img process can be viewed in Timesat itself but can only be saved as a picture file which contains no data. I attached the output file.

Thank you but I already got the data into Timesat and processed it. It is the Timesat output files that I need to convert for further spatial analyses in a GIS environment.

unfortunately, I am not familiar with the Timesat software, but the small file you attached is just a small PNG-file. However, according an answer of Bruno Lara here (), it should be possible to open the data in ENVI, QGIS,...

To get Timesat output images into a raster format that can be used in software such as ArcGIS, you simply create a header file (metadata file) with the specifications of the output image (i.e. number of rows and columns; projection etc) together with the Timesat output and you should be able to open the image in ArcGIS. There does not seem to be any other way...

Can you tell me how to create a header file together with the Timesat output?

You need to create the header file (*.hdr) for each TIMESAT binary output. You can follow my hdr file below.

Adjust the description name

You need to replace the image dimension (samples and lines) with yours. To get it you can use

gdalinfo yourfile.bil

You must know the top-left coordinate and the pixel size of your image, and replace "95.1525139304, 5.63277950899, 0.00209129, 0.00209129" with your data.

If necessary you could also change the coordinate system.

After you got your hdr file, you can convert to GeoTIF using gdal

gdal_translate -of GTiff startofseason startofseason.tif

or if you want to convert all the data in the directory

for i in find . -type f ! -name "*.hdr"; do gdal_translate -of GTiff $i $i.tif; done

I was wondering if l can get some assistance, l want to extract pheno parameters in TIMESAT. I want to use GSU interface which requires me to have ASCII files. I have 3 years of data, 50 observations per year and 4 time series. Now l have separate ASCII files for each image, which makes it 12 ASCII files in total. Now my question is how do l combine them, how do l prepare my date so that l can have one ASCII files like the one attached (from the TIMESAT test data) which shows all the data in one file. If you open it in TIMESAT you can actually see the data has 9 years, 23 observations per year and 3 time series. I have attached the file.

Thanks for answering. I intend to use for a series of 18 years (2001-2018). I tried to test in TIMESAT, only three years, to see if it works. I'll explain the output I used: I downloaded the dataset of the MOD13 (Geotiff) time series, already cut to my study area (500,000 km²), approximately. I plan to work with EVI. I saved each EVI image (69 images-three years for testing) in the ENVI BSQ format. I created the txt files (readme and list) for redirection. And showed the error I presented to you.

Given this procedure I used, what am I doing wrong? What is missing to implement?

Can you explain to me the correct steps that I must follow.

Yolandi Ernst - thank you very much for your great explanation on how to prepare the hdr file! It´s a shame that Timesat is not capable of doing that itself. May I ask one more question? Do you do the seasonal intervals per year? or can you get one average parameter if you choose the season min max across all years? In my case, I have 18 years and it would be terrible to create image files for each paraemter for each year.

Jens Oldeland, apologies for the delay...unfortunately I am not aware of such a function within the TIMESAT platform. I have not done that myself but I find that SPIRITS software gives a lot of processing options to TIMESAT output. It is worth looking into that. Otherwise you will have to create them separately. I did that through the Spirits GUI and it wasn't too painful. Literally duplicated the first hdr file and just updated the file name for each year. From there I could import to ArcGIS and apply the math.
