I want to ask to researcher who is studying about solidification behavior in superalloy of any alloy.

Now I'm studying about solidification in Ni based superalloy.

From many literature, they always get the reaction temperature in alloy from DSC or DTA.

In here, I have a question.

My alloy is always fabricated by casting, so it has several solidification structure such as chill, columnar and equiaxed zone in as cast condition.

I was thinking that measurement data from DSC or DTA may be different with where we cut the sample in alloy.

For example, precipitate amount and composition, grain size is totally different with solidification structure.

If so, where should I get the sample to obtain the exact reaction temperature of alloy?

I could not understand in literature because most of them have mentioned about measurement process like heating and cooling rate and temperature.

If anyone has idea, please give me some comments or advises.

Best regard.
