I am working with the LC-MS8060 from Shimadzu. I usually adjust the interface temperature, DL temperature and heat block temperature on 300, 250 and 400C, respectively. Now the temperatures do not rise to the set values and remain at 33,34 and 23C. An error message pops up saying an abnormal condition is detected on the heater. How can I fix that??
We had a problem with only the DL Temperature where it was stuck at 220°C and wasn't going up to the set point which was 250°. It got fixed by replacing the DL with a new one.
Was the instrument cleaned recently? maybe a plug is still not attached properly! Otherwise, it's best to contact Shimadzu directly.
The most likely reasons are a broken heating element or defect electronics. The heating element can be tested with a multimeter since its plug can be diconnected from the electronics. You need an electrician or You have to be experienced by Your own. Be careful.
A second possibility for not heating is that the GC made a safety shutdown for some reason. To test this turn off Your GC via the main switch of the GC (not the MS !) and restart the GC......
