To model an infinitely rigid articulated quadrilateral (Fig. 1), I utilized elasticBeamColumn elements to represent the quadrilateral elements and zero-length elements to represent the articulations. The deformations and reactions of my model align with my expectations (Fig. 2 and Fig. 3); however, a warning message has appeared (Fig. 3):

"Warning! Elements not supported yet. nen: 2; must be: 2, 3, 4, 8."

This message appears six times for the same number of zero-length elements. My inquiries are as follows:

  • What are the likely causes of this warning message?
  • What measures can I take to prevent this error?
  • Will this warning message have any impact on calculations in more intricate models?
