Hello, we are designing tesla turbine for higher efficiency . we have designed turbine and now we are going to perform CFD in Ansys .Main problem we are facing is how to decide rpm of turbine that are to be given in Fluent in order to have transient analysis as we are using rotating wall method. if we use some random rpm like 25000 rpms the question is will the turbine be able to give these much rpms in real conditions.
(assuming 'real conditions' are for your prototype) Yes if your design is small enough, you could use a high pressure air reservoir, perhaps rated at 10-15 bar to achieve high RPM . Once you complete your CFD and if its correct, you will obviously know your boundary conditions for actual tests.
what we did in our project was that we made experimental model first and then after wind tunnel testing we got various rpm values and then simulated our turbine on those values and verified our results. you can also try to simulate turbine at various values ( depending upon design size) e.g from 150 rpm , 200rpm , 250 rpm , incremental values etc and then at the end compare the theoretical results with the real experimental model
@shahzad hassan bahi we are designing turbine for increased efficiency if we don't do cfd and build some random design how can we be sure it will have high effficeny?
