How to extract DNA from skin swabs using the DNeasy blood and tissue kits from Qiagen?

I have collected skin swabs that are stored at -20 and would like to extract genomic DNA from them using the DNeasy blood and tissue kits and I am looking for tips and tricks to get the DNA from them as the protocol does not include methods for extraction from swabs.
