How to extract DNA from buccal swabs in preservative?

I have some buccal swab samples that are in a liquid preservative. Our group is trying to extract the DNA from these samples using the E.Z.N.A Tissue DNA kit and Forensic DNA kit. Both protocols are for swabs without any preservative. Does anyone know how I would go about extracting the DNA from these swabs and/or the preservative?
