I wanted to ask how can I enter a variable in SPSS with the option of multiple responses for a given variable? For example: If question is "What is your role?"
Answer Choices: (A) Positive (B) Negative
Then I define values 1 for Positive and 0 for Negative. This is straightforward.
BUT how can I enter this in question in SPSS:
"What is your hobby? where respondents may select more than one option.
Answer Choices: (A) Gaming (B) Fishing (C) Reading
How I would define values in SPSS for multiple responses in above case. Thanks in anticipation to anyone with an advice.
I think you can collect the data. Then, you record all the answers. Try to do your best to classify the collected answers into some categories. For example, reading, TV and news, Movie and Theatre, Sports, Social media, Getting together, ... .
Muhammad Aqib Ali I suggest creating a separate column for each response option as follows:
Column A = Gaming
Column B = Fishing
Column C = Reading
Then enter a "1" if the participant selected the option and a "0" if the participant did not select the option.
