I want to use Sentinel 1 data for geological studies in a mineral resource particularly Copper. My study will focus on Aynak Copper mine located in Afghanistan which is a world class sediment hosted copper. Then I will analyze and process the images using SNAP. I want your idea and guide about the two mentioned questions.

Sentinel 1 data is mainly used for structural analysis (land deformation, landslides, glaciers, flooding), therefor, firstly you must decide that specifically on which subject do you want to you work on.
My suggestion: If you would like to work on lithological mapping there, then a good choice is ASTER imagery because in that area, there are some minerals and rocks (carbonates, mafic - ultramafics..) which are sensitive to TIR bands, however Sentinel 1 or 2 does not contain TIR, but ASTER consists VNIR, SWIR, and TIR bands with high spatial resolution that accurately can targets the alteration minerals and rocks.
