Dear sir/madam, I am working on multi-phase fluid flow in micro-channel. I want to study the fluid flow behaviour, particles deposition and its effect on constricted channel. My inlet is composed of water (density = 1003 kg/m3, viscosity = 0.001 kg/ms) and particles (having density=1096 kg/m3, diameter of particle=8 microns). I am assuming the particles as spherical micro or nano particles. Which modelling method is proper to simulate the above conditions and which model I have to use in Fluent. I also want to know about particles tracking and its deposition. Please suggest me related tutorials,papers and links.

An important issue is the ratio of particle diameter to channel depth and width, and the typical Reynolds number for the mean flow. Further aspects to have a look at is whether the fluid is of Newtonian or non-Newtonian character. Non-Newtonian means that the classical viscosity depends on the local shear rate. Two cases: (a) dilatant fluid where viscosity increases with the shear and may tend to blocking of the fluid in pumped systems (or body wests!); (b) fluids where viscosity decreases with increasing shear thus reducing the critical Reynolds number for the onset of turbulence. Respected Bernhard Wessling Sir, Do you have some articles related to flow of nanofluids in constricted channels, as you mentioned they will behave non-newtonian at any concentration, it makes the analysis of the problem difficult. Thanks in advance.
as I understood, you don't have nanoparticles in your fluid so the fact that nano-dispersions /-emulsions are non-Newtonian does not affect your work.

Actually am working on multi-phase blood flow study in which Plasma as continuous phase and it is Newtonian and RBC as secondary phase (dense particles).I want to study the effect of RBC and its deposition, wall shear stress,particle tracking in artery. For this study which model is good in Ansys Fluent? Please suggest me. If possible please provide me tutorials, good papers.
Am using Eulerian multi-phase model for this study in which am selecting Dense DPM (DDPM) but am getting lot of errors.
sorry, I am not experienced with any such models. I am an experimental chemist having worked with nanomaterials and colloidal systems, both by fundamental research as by applied advanced technology development and their application in mass production.
