I have perceived from explanations from some authors that they have preferred to do it manually instead of relying on the software, because they think that these software are not very helpful when you want to analyze narrative as a whole instead of doing thematic analysis across cases. Any ideas or suggestions about it.
I have tried to find some Nvivo Books and Youtube lectures to find that how good is it to use Nvivo when you are using a holistic approach, but I couldn't find.
Go to your computer...hit settings...remove program from computer...immerse yourself in the data...voila...problem solved!!

Almost all CAQDAS software, including NVivo, is designed around a code-and-retreive framework. So, if you are not going to code your data, there is little that this software can do for you.
I have found NVivo very helpful in a variety of ways. It has the capability for instance of looking through transcribed interviews to find keywords and subjects that may spur thought in an area you had not thought of.
But as Dr. Morgan mentioned, you are definitely going to need to code your data to get full usefulness of the application of NVivo. I think the citation above does a decent job of explaining this process:

As the answers by Belinda Chaplin and David Morgan suggest, you are better off using MS WORD than any CAQDAS software, including NVivo. Holistic approaches to narrative do not break down the narrative to codes and categories, but rather look at the plot and the manner in which units of meaning are concatenated via narrative means (e.g., temporality, evaluation, characters, drama, etc.).

I earlier started analysis using NVivo, but very soon I felt that it may only be helpful for initial coding, and not in fully utilizing the Narrative method.
With the help of your answers I can progress in better way!
