How to do automatic mesh for a finite element model and to get reduce properties of a plate?

I'm working on modeling manufacturing defects of variable stiffness composite laminates and I have MATLAB code to calculate the deflection and stresses for a rectangular plate based on Higher-order shear deformation theory (HOSNT12) using FEM. I also have a code of how to calculate the manufacturing defects. Now I want to use some automatic mesh generation techniques so that I can model the plate having manufacturing defects in it and then calculate the deflection and reduced stiffness properties of a plate.

But I have no idea how can I proceed.

If anyone working in the related field share idea I will be grateful to you.
