I want to prepare chitin agar medium for actinomycetes study but I cannot dissolve chitin in specific medium. Please reply, my question is very helpful for my study.
Thank you sir for your kind reply. My study is isolate chitinase producing actinomycetes against pathogens. In composition of chitin agar chitin is 5g in 1000ml. can i use acidic acid in media? If i use acetic acid in media actinomycetes will grow on media Is possible
I have not worked on identification of chitinase producing microorganisms. You can easily search some article for this, you will definitely find how to prepare chitin containing media. One thing is sure..chitin is soluble in acids, like acetic, citric etc. It will not be soluble in water.
