How to differentiate between the laser parameters of laser machining and laser shock peening?

I would like to know how to differentiate between the laser parameters of laser machining and laser shock peening? Because, I almost find same laser parameters(Avg.Power/pulse energy, Pulse duration, Frequency, spot diameter) for both the cases.

Please let me know if you have any idea.
