While studying river migration I recorded the distance that a river shifted from its original position irrespective of the direction. Then I divided the distance traveled by the river with number of years elapsed between two successive observations in order to calculate the annual migration. Can it be called the rate of migration? What can be the possible reason/s for an increasing trend of the phenomenon for all the rivers under investigation?
