I am modeling the thermal abuse behavior of Li-ion cylindrical cell using COMSOL 5.4.
Two models are coupled, i.e. 1D electrochemical model (to evaluate the heat generation) and 3D thermal model (to evaluate the temperature). I need to deploy the decomposition reactions in the anode, cathode and electrolyte during the thermal runaway. The equations to be input are attached.
The equations for the decomposition reactions need time-dependent concentrations of Li-ion ions in the respective component. Hence, I defined domain ODEs to evaluate the time-varying concentrations in all the components. However, I am unable to couple the two models, so that the heat due to the abusive reactions can be included the thermal model. Can anyone suggest the way to go ahead, it would be of immense help.

Dear Puneet,
In the 1D electrochemical model, if you click "view the equations", you can see the Qh (the heat generation equation) in every single component you added. You can try adding your new heat generation equations to the existed ones. Then use the whole Qh in the 3D thermal module.

I'm not very sure .. but this seems to be kinetic eq...so try using the general form of PDE. Compare your EQs with that of the PDE, correspondingly make all the coefficients 0 and 1. define the dependent variable. then accordingly I guess, you'll be able to couple the multiphysics.

I was wondering do you use the battery package or implementing your equations in the Comsol? if you are using the mathematical solver in comsol, you can visit my model for all-solid-state batteries: Data model2.mph
