I ran an explicit model in abaqus and I want to create an implicit model with initial conditions of strain, stress and temperature resulting from the first model. How can I perform that? I used predefined field: initial state it imported the stress and temperature but the strains were imported as zeroes
I believe that you can either predefine the stress or strain but you cannot specify both of them.
If the model state is elastic during the initial state of your model, then specifying initial stress will produce the initial strain and vise versa.
You can directly import explicit result into an implicit analysis, see manual section Transferring results between Abaqus/Explicit and Abaqus/Standard (9.2.2 in 6-12)

I am trying to pre-define an initial state by importing the results from the 1st analysis. However, I am having an error with this way stating that " System exception: exceptions. TypeError: argument of type 'NoneType' is not iterable." It would be awesome if anyone can tell me what is this error about.

You should be able to predefine the stress directly from odb file of previous analysis. In your initial step go to predefine --> STRESS. Make sure your odb file is at the same folder of the current analysis.
