How to decople the effcet of ECM and substrate rigidity?

I use Polyacrylamide gels of various stiffness in my study. To culture cells on PAA gel, we functionalize it with Sulpho-SANPAH followed by treatment with collagen type-1. I want to see the effect of only substrate rigidity not of collagen. As cells don't adhere on non ECM gel.
