I am working on this bracket in ansys, I got stress plot as shown in picture attached. I am not sure if we can consider stress in red zone as true stress. The region is not in contact. I am confused cause thought I see stress on both sides, I do not see even distribution along thickness of bracket (picture 2). How to decide when situation like this comes??

Could you elaborate on the boundary conditions applied on the bracket? From the the stress variation across its thickness, it seems that that maximum bending stress may be acting in that region.
Meshing in that localized area may be reviewed if at all it is a problem.
The most reliable way to cross check the FEA results is manually calculate the stress at the section of bracket.
Moreover, sometimes such singularities do occur on account of faulty meshing, boundary conditions and effect of the adjacent area.
Without knowing loads and boundary conditions its difficult to draw any conclusion. I would suggest to check meshing and boundary conditions.
