I am trying to simulate the behaviour of a Piezoelectric sensor, positioned behind a plate subjected to ad impact and consequential oscillations.
I have set a transient analysis and associate the piezoelectric bodies with element Solid226 (keytop 1001) to have voltage as output.
The solution doesn't give me any voltage (all the computed VOLT values are zero) and give me this error.
"There is at least 1 small equation solver pivot term (e.g., at the VOLT degree of freedom of node 66) which may indicate a numerically unstable model. Please check your results carefully".
What should I do?
It means that the global stiffnes matrix [K] of your model is singular and it cannot be inverted to obtain the nodal solution. In a structural analysis this corresponds to an unconstrained model. In your analysis, the error refers to voltage, so please check if all necessary constrants have been applied
I will go with Denis Benasciutti , it seems you have a constraining Problem in you piezoeletric sensor. I think it will be better is you provide us more details on your modeling procesdure.
I am a civil engineer, I dealt with the solver pivot error in Ansys numerous times! The issue was always related to constraint. My model was not well constrained. This could possibly mean that the parts of the model are not well connected together! this error could probably be due to using element types that have different DOFs in your model.
