Headache is asymptoms not adisease

There are many causes of headache, diseases of teeth like pulpits , diseases of ENT like sinusitis,disease of eye like myopia and glaucoma, migrain and cluster headache.

Brain lesion like tumor which lead to increase the intracranial pressure.

The most common type of headache is tension headache which is due stress which manifest as occiptofrontal tightness .

Depression may lead to headache , the treatment is by antidepressants drug like tricyclic and monoaminooxidase inhibitor

like amitryptaline 25-100 mg ,impramine 25 mg these drug inhibit the serotonin reuptake SRI .

Several points:

1. Depression and migraines are comorbid because of the involvement in the limbic system in both

2. Most 'tension type headache' is migrainous in origin. Thinking of it as completely separate from migraines is a common misunderstanding

4. 60 units Botox into the corrugators is effective in depression and there is an RCT to confirm this

Obviously one needs to ensure that the headaches are not secondary eg a tumour

I think Alexandra Dimitrova is being too literal when she says depression doesn't cause headache.

Migraine is increasingly being seen as a threshold pathophysiology and many things change the threshold, including depression.

Tratment is multiprolonged approach depending on the underlying cause .You may need treatment for both headach and depression.

TAD,MAOI, anxiolytic, botox some time.

To alleviate depression SSRIs( paxil, Prozac)

Some time use paracetamol or ibuprofen
