Flupentixol is a conventional antipsychotic drug (strong D1 and D2-receptor antagonism plus some other actions such as a weak 5-HT2A antagonism).

Today it is used as an antidepressant in doses 0.5 - 3 mg/day.

However, the underlying mechanisms are currently unknown. Any suggestions?
