Hi, I don't know how to create matrices with different names like Mat1,2.. but you can use cells type of indexing where the third parameter in matrix dimension can be used to refer to the required matrix. You can use the code below. exp(50x3) is the master matrix and mat(10x3x5) is the broken matrix arranged in 5 cells. Hope this helps.

mat(j,:,i) = exp(j,:);

l=j;

I agree with Nazmul Haque, although it may be best to avoid using the function "genvarname" which will be removed in a future release of Matltab.

Writting :

Mat_child = [Prefix, num2str(i)] ;

should do the trick.

This code, however, removes the sanity check performed by genvarname(). This can be seen as a perk seens an error/exception/warning will be thrown by matlab if Mat_child is not a valid variable name.

The use of the function "eval" is usually ill-advised since it make the code difficult to read (and even to parse by matlab). I fail to see a way to answer yout question without using eval() but you might want to modify the code using Mat1...Mat5 so that it uses directly Mat or a 3D array Mat0(i,j,k) :

Msub{i}=M((i-1)*n+1:i*n,:);%Your sub matrices are stored in Msub{1}, Msub{2}...

end

You can apply mat2cell function to divide a matrix into cells. Then read each cell and copy these to separate matrices.

Additionally, if you want to create matrix from a vector follow the following code.

Suppose the length of a vector V is L. Your target is to create matrix M of m rows.

MATLAB code:

n=L/m;

for i=0:1:m-1

M(i,:)=V(i*n+1:i*n+n);
