International Units (IU) stands for a unit commonly used to measure vitamins, vaccines and meds. The volume or mass that stands for a IU depends on the concentration of potency of the substance, so there is not a universal way to calculate.
Check the manufacturers information on the label of your antibody vial. For example on the vial of TNF alpha (that we have in our lab) there will be a total number of units/vial. Also it should indicate the number of units/mg of TNF. If you know the volume then it is a simple calculation to convert into units/ml. i.e. Vial of TNF (1mg) = 50,000 units/mg Volume of liquid = 1ml Therefore your stock solution = 1mg/ml or 1ug/ul or 50,000u/ml or 50u/ul
