Silver should not be used in humans in any form because the toxicity can not be controlled. Metallic silver can lead to irreversible graying of the skin called argyrosis. I have seen such a case only once about 50 years ago during a clinical visit in a woman who had taken colloidal silver for gastric treatment for a long time. Silver has since become obsolete in Germany.
