My respondents scaled factors, I now need to know the correlation between a small but important groups (n=5 to 8) with the clients groups (n=13 to 22). It is quite complex as Kendall's tau to measure the relation between the scaled data only works with n>10.
Hi Rosa I would like to comment that to compare groups in SPSS you would follow steps:
1. Open Compare Means (Analyze > Compare Means > Means).
2. Double-click on variable MileMinDur to move it to the Dependent List area.
3. Click on variable Athlete and use the second arrow button to move it to the Independent List box.
4. Click Options to open the Means: Options window, where you can select what statistics you want to see. Mean, Number of Cases, and Standard Deviation are included by default.
Click and drag Minimum and Maximum to the Cell Statistics box. You can also drag the items within the Cell Statistics box to change the order that the statistics are displayed in the output.
Click Continue when finished.
5. Click OK.

The standard test would be a Mann Whitney U test. It may be difficult to detect a difference between your groups because your sample sizes are small. There is also an issue to do with the number of ordinal values on your scale: it is advisable to have at least 10.
