Hello,

I have a dynamic implicit model with friction interfaces in Abaqus.

In dynamic implicit, you cannot enter critical damping ratios, as you can do in steady-state dynamics, Modal. So you have to somehow take into account damping "more physically". So you can define it in material properties for instance, or with dashpots in the model, or with friction, etc.

In Abaqus, for material damping, I have to enter the Rayleigh parameters, that means alpha and betan and also a "composite" and a "structural" parameter. I have found some values for alpha (e.g:-0.033) and beta but very dispersive and that there is a relationship between alpha and beta. I am not sure about the other parameters...Globally, I have been told that these coefficients cannot be considered as very precise, but they can be taken as "the less false as possible".

Does anyone have any clue about this ? Thanks

Rémi
