Dear research community

I was reading a paper where for making a conditional knockout in a chicken cell line, researchers have used cDNA instead of a gene for that particular protein. I wanted to understand the purpose of using the cDNA for expressing the protein. Is the expression faster when one use cDNA compared to the gene for the protein since the cDNA skips the splicing step during expression? If that so, what is the mechanism of detecting the requirement of splicing for the mRNA?
