I have an issue and I'm hoping you can give me possible solutions or some advice. I, and two other co-authors, had an accepted paper (since 2019 October) in a great wildlife journal that has an open access condition (== it is necessary to pay a fee). At the time of manuscript submission, I was in another institution that was willing to pay my fee slice (1/3, == U$ 520). Now, I'm in another institution that doesn't have this kind of support. I now have 2/3 of the fee, I contacted the journal and explained all this, and they don't care (in fact). So, we are now wondering to change the manuscript submission to another journal (without needed payment) and start the process all again. We did not sign any license yet. (1) Could you indicate a wildlife journal with not too long a submission process? (2) Do you think if I wrote that it was an accepted manuscript in the cover letter the process could be shorter?

I think you can withdraw from acceptance, its your right because you have not signed any type of agreement. For withdraw of paper you have valid reason. You should send two reminders and third final reminder
as an information for no corresponding in future.
If the journal allows, you can do. But in most cases they do not allow.

First of all, I think you can try to negotiate a waiver/discount in that journal you have the acceptance. APCs for papers whose corresponding authors are based on low-medium-income countries used to get some financial support. I hope that the political crisis and science budget cuts in Brazil help you convince the editors about it.

Isn't it possible to explain that Brazil is suffering from severe budget cuts? You could provide data and write a formal letter highlighting all about that.

Thank you for your reply, I already tried to negotiate with the journal (I augmented about the scientific crisis in Brazil, about all of the authors are Brazilian scientists), and as I said they really don't care. Even I having 2/3 of the payment (which is too much for us). They will let us take our paper off from their journal with our request. However, before doing this I'm trying to figure out other solutions. Did you recommend a good wildlife journal with a not too long submission process and no payment fees?
I see. I had a good experience with Biodiversity and Conservation. It is free of charge and it didn't take too long.

So, if there is no deal, maybe the best solution is to change the journal. I also had a really nice experience in Biodiversity and Conservation. The Journal of Wildlife Management can also be an option. All the Best!

For that you have to write a mail of withdrawal to that particular journal.. and for finding new journal you can find new journal on elesvier finder by providing them the title of manuscript and the abstract of your manuscript..elesvier will find all the related journal.

An amount is paid to remove the research from the magazine and publish it in another magazine. This happened to me, as he accepted research in two magazines, one of which I asked to cancel the acceptance, and they asked me an amount to cancel the publication.
Prevention is your best policy. Do your homework before you decide where you want your article to be published. Think in the readers, the impact and the content. Avoid the journal shopping syndrome.

Unless the journal would be transferring your manuscript to another journal within the same publishing company/journal family, I'd be hesitant to state that it was already accepted elsewhere when resubmitting (at least until the accepted manuscript in the current journal is completely removed from consideration). I suspect a new journal would want to solicit their own reviews, and many journals require some sort of statement in the cover letter when submitting a manuscript saying something like “Please confirm the manuscript has not been published, accepted, or is not under consideration for publication in any other journal or book”. 1. If you can't pay the amount. And editorial board is not helping you out then go for another journal and do a mail to them for withdrawal.
2. If you have quality work then no need to mention for previous submission.
