We know, extracts from different parts of plants can synthesize silver nanoparticles from AgNO3 solution. Can anybody please help me how to measure yield of formulated nanoparticles from particular synthesis? Thanks in advance.
Using X-ray diffraction, determine the average crystalline size of the nanoparticles. Using laser diffraction, determine the number of your nanoparticles. Bearing in mind that at 100% yield all silver ions must be reduced to atoms of nanoparticles, calculate the practical yield of silver nanoparticles in the reaction.
I would suggest you to first determine exact phase composition of your sample by XRD. If your sample is composed solely of elemental silver then you can just determine yield by filtering off nanoparticles and determining its weight.
As mentioned by Yuri Mirgorod and Michal Hegedus, having the initial weight of AgNO3 in hand, simply divide the mass of the product by the mass of the AgNO3.
