Please suggest to me how can I calculate Qtz% from XRD data as the specific calculation of Illite, Smectite, Kaolinite, and Chlorite % from XRD data. I had gone through one article where he has estimated Qtz%, while I mailed them the email id that has been given is not in working condition now. Is there any factor I need to use as used in the case of Illite, (factor 4), for chlorite factor 2 is used, etc? Kindly Suggest.
You may try the following method to calculate quartz % along with layer silicate minerals.

the suggestion given by Dr. Dilip Kumar Pal is very useful, is worthy to considerer it.
The answer to that specific question is long, once for a semi-quantitative amount evaluation. As considered, the semi-quantitative evaluation in the paper you mention is about the analysis that needs to be done at least in pairs. With such a high mixture (already present in your sample), the problem increases in complexity.
There are a significant disorder problem in smectite, illite/smectite, and the illite structure itself, that needs to be addressed for a correct semi-quantitative calculation. Those disordered problems are related to rotational disorder in illite and illite/smectite mixture associated with cis-vacant in illite and interstratified cis and trans-vacant in the illite/smectite mixture. Those occurrences may highly influence the results.
The problems are intensively discussed in chapters 9 and 10 of the X-ray diffraction and Identification and Analysis of Clay Minerals, Duane M. Moore and Robert C. Reynolds, Jr, second edition, Oxford University Press, NY, 1997. It is part of a series of introductory monographs for the mineralogy course.
