how to calculate the molarity of 30% W/V H2O2 ? and also subsequent preparation of molar solution for enzymatic studies
Dear Bhavya,
30% W/V H2O2 means that for each 100 mL of solution there are 30 g of hydrogen peroxide.
The molarity is obtained as moles of solute in 1 L (1000 mL) of solution.
In your case, 1 L of solution contains 300 g of H2O2 (PM=34.01 g/mol).
Therefore, the molarity is (300 g/34.01 g/mol) = 8.82 M.
Calculating Molarity with Mass and Volume
1. Know the basic formula for calculating molarity. ...
2. Examine the problem. ...
3. Find the molar mass of the solute. ...
4. Convert the grams into moles. ...
5. Divide the number of moles by the number of liters. ...
6. Write your answer.
Thank you dear Bernarder for descriptive methodological answer.
Dear,
in order to calculate Molarity you have two basic formula,
Molarity= n/V
n=m/M
in which,
n is the matter quantity (amount of substance in "mol".
m is the mass of your substance that you have to weigh with a balance or micro-balance.
M is the molecular mass in "g.mol-1" of your substance.
V is the volume of your solution.
Wish you the best of luck.
