We are using KSV NIMA Langmuir trough for forming Langmuir monolayers. If we can input the molecular weight(M.W), volume(v) of solution and corresponding concentration(c), MMA is calculated from that for a simple one component surfactant.
In case of more than one component, should we give the average values of the binary/ ternary mixtures for c, v, M.W ?

When you are preparing a solution, for example, butyric and stearic acid in hexane, you will have one ratio of components. When you get a monomolecular layer from this solution, almost all the butyric acid will dissolve in water, and in the monomolecular layer there will be stearic acid. This can be seen from a photo of a force microscope. Therefore, you need to analyze the solubility in water of all components. You must select a substrate so that all the components are in the monomolecular layer. Then you can take all the parameters in the form of an average.

I am using lipids and cholesterol dissolved in chlorofrom and then spread them in water. I use them in different ratios and prepare the films for my studies. For ex, if I use 40:40:20 of DLPC:DPPC:Cholesterol, can I just average the concentration & M.W of this 3 components and use it for MMA estimate?
Use the concentration of mole / liter. The ratio of the components of 1 molecule: 2 molecules: 3 molecules (example).
