Hello, in my experiment I have 3 locations in which two locations have the same plot size and the other location has a different plot size. Again in the two locations with same plot size the number of plant sown was 25 and in the other location it was 10 plants per plot. It was a one row plot in all the locations. Now I have the trait dry weight of grains per plant. This trait was measured based on the number of plants harvested at the end. The experiments were carried out under drought stress. So, all the plants those were sown initially did not survive at the end due to environmental condition. Now, I want to calculated grain yield per hectare. So, how can I do that? Please leave a reply as soon as possible.
The yield should be apportioned to surface in Grains/m2. The survival rate is relative to sown plant and has got a decimal precision. The size as far I can understand is with variable drought in each location and there aren't replications. It seems then a trial that can be treated as such for indroductory tests at different conditions with limited sources. Experiments require replications
you can't compare these numbers without having any replications, statistically. you have to report on the basis of plant(yield/plant), because it actually has happen. but : we have 30% naked field(without any plant in the end of season) thus we will recommend 30% more plant for future sowing. and according to new density we can estimate yield.
You can do this by measuring yield/plant, no. of seeds per plant or per area and by seed dry weight.....
randomly select a small area (e.g 10x10 cm) and collect seeds form those plants then weight, this will be grain yield per 10 cm2....... After that multiply according to your plot size
